Planning Your Walk

Step 1:  Download and print the Walk sponsor form! This is where you’ll write down the names, emails and amounts of those sponsoring you. Try to fill up two sheets worth!

Step 2: Spread the word:  Send an email to everyone you think might be interested in supporting your walk.  Ideally it’s a personal note that talks about how important DOORS is to your family. OR, print copies of our flier and walk through your neighborhood. Siblings can help too! 

Step 3: Get donations: People can either give you a check, send a check to DOORS, or pay directly through Paypal.  Ask if the person has a company that matches donations. This can be an easy way to double the value of their donation!

Step 4: Have a GREAT Walk: It’s not a marathon, it’s not even a 5K. It’s a leisurely stroll around one of the prettiest gardens in NJ with families just like yours.  Arrive at 10am, have some baked goodness and coffee and enjoy the walk!

This year we’re having a little competition to make it interesting. Below are our prizes. Plus, everyone who gets at least 10 separate donations will get a picture in our Winner’s Circle with the DDDC student they walked for and a custom web page on our site. You can send to your friends and supporters!

Top donation in dollars: Date Night! 2 tickets to an event at the State Theatre and overnight stay at the Heldrick (in New Brunswick).

Top number of donations:  Family Portrait Session (incl. 1-8x10 photo) at Janet Studios

Top number of donations for teachers:  $25 Target gift card, PLUS a framed picture with class!

Top number of donations for siblings: $25 Toys R Us gift card 

Ten Donations: We'll create a page on the site recognizing the DDDC student who you walked for and thanking your sponsors.
